Save a Palestinian Family
United States
**Hello from Gaza, under endless skies of fear.**
My name is **Mohannad Elsimiri**, I’m 37 years old. I was born, raised, and built a life in Gaza — a life I fought for, a future I carefully planned for my children.
**Now, everything is ash.**
Before this war, I was a web developer. I built systems for companies, chased new technologies, and dreamed of completing my Master’s degree abroad. I turned down job offers overseas for a greater purpose — to raise my children in their homeland.
**But today, I have no office, no laptop, no home… and no roof over my children’s heads.**
No electricity, no internet, no chance to work.
We live in a tent in a schoolyard, where even schools are bombed.
## A Family Fighting to Stay Alive
I have a wife and three young children:
Mohammed (10)
Abed Almalek (8)
Sham (6)
For over a year and a half, **they haven’t seen a classroom, held a toy, or felt safe.**
They don’t dream anymore — they survive from one day to the next.
We’ve fled our home **nine times**, running from one broken city to another. Each time, hoping for safety… but there’s no such thing left here.
**Even baking bread is a gamble with death,** searching for firewood while warplanes roar above.
My children are terrified of the sound of a toy gun — imagine what a real airstrike does to their hearts.
## War Doesn’t Just Kill Bodies — It Destroys Souls
This war hasn’t only destroyed homes — it has shattered us inside.
I was a builder of systems… today I struggle to build a fire.
I was a father with dreams for his children… now I pray only for them to survive until morning.
## The Only Escape
Our only hope is to evacuate through the Rafah border to Egypt.
But the cost is unbearable: **$6,000 per person — $30,000 for my family.**
We are out of time.
**Every donation, every share, every kind word matters.**
You won’t just be helping us leave… **you’ll be saving lives, and giving three innocent children a chance to be children again.**
From the bottom of my heart — thank you for reading, thank you for caring.
May your humanity be the light in someone’s darkest hour. ❤️
## From the Organizer:
My name is Marine de Vachon. I live in Los Angeles, California.
I’m running this fundraiser for Mohannad and his family because they can’t access crowdfunding platforms from Gaza.
**100% of the funds will go directly to them.**
As I’m sure you all know, the situation and conditions in Gaza and especially Gaza City, where the Elsimiri family is currently sheltering, are unlivable and only getting worse. As if this alone weren’t difficult enough, Sham just underwent surgery to remove an abscess without anesthesia and will need an endoscopy for another issue. Meanwhile, Gaza City is under an evacuation order. There is nowhere to go, and the cost of an evacuation is unimaginable. I am pasting below what an evacuation from Gaza City to the South entails, as per an article published in Haaretz (source link also below).
I am kindly asking you to consider contributing to help this lovely, such deserving family of five survive. We are their only lifeline. Their only hope. And if you cannot make another contribution at this time, which I understand completely and thank you for your prior generous gesture, I kindly ask you to please spread the word, share anyway you can.
“According to the UN assessment, about 1 million people live in and around Gaza City. As a matter of simple math, if they moved to the designated areas [by the IDF], they would have, on average, about 7 square meters each of living space […].
Residents report that the cost of basic services that they would require is very high. The transportation costs are reportedly at least about 2,000 shekels ($600) per family and can go as high as 3,500 shekels.
Cellphone service is estimated at 1,500 shekels ($450), a basic tent costs 4,500 to 5,000 shekels ($1,300 to $1,500).
All told, a family would need to spend about 12,500 shekels ($3,700) to evacuate to the south from the city

Furthermore, Mohannad, informed me that there were additional costs involved, such as renting the land for the tent and basic bathroom setups… Also, the occupation is threatening to cut off Internet, water, and food in Gaza City to force the population to move South.
Let’s help this family! May they live!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
On behalf of the Elsimiri family, I would like to thank all those who have donated and continue to contribute. You are saving lives!!! We are deeply grateful for your generosity and kindness.
As I write, the situation has become absolutely catastrophic. With the imminent invasion creating even more uncertainty and hardship for the Palestinians of Gaza, every bit of help is more than appreciated.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!
